10 Sweet & Spooky Movie Cakes
Nearly everyone I know is already in full Halloween mode, and I have to say, I approve. If this year has taught us anything, it's to celebrate the good stuff as much and as often as we can, so bring on the spooky!
Still, it does feel a little early for Halloween Sweets, so this week we're taking a detour into spooky movies instead. I tried to pick some classics that aren't always associated with Halloween, like...
(Mariana Caci, Buenos Aires)
...Gremlins!
Aww, look at little Gizmo. That's some incredible sugar sculpting.
This entire list could have been all Tim Burton movies, but I tried to include some films that don't get as much cake love:
(Carlos Cake Designer, Mexico)
Eeee! This has to be the cutest and most colorful Coraline cake I've ever seen. Love the giant button topper up there with Charlie.
It doesn't get much more classic than The Addams Family:
(My Little Bakery, Peru)
Creepy AND kooky. All together? Ooky. A++
Of course I'll take any excuse to feature more Ghostbusters and my marshmallow boi:
(Cookievonster, Canada)
Sweet Stay Puft, look at all that hand-painted goodness! YES, HAVE SOME.
I always like it when bakers use cookies for their 3D decorations, and this is another great example:
(Galletas y tartas La Olivera, Spain)
Edward Scissorhands! Look at his cute lil' topiaries - such a great use of icing texture.
This next one is definitely a Halloween movie, but how could I NOT throw The Book at you?
(Nadia Cakes, multiple U.S. locations)
"BOOOOOoook!" Yep, it's all a bunch of Hocus Pocus.
Scooby Doo is always spooky, right?
(Ana Brum Biscuit Designer, Brazil)
Though I have to admit, the last time I saw the Scooby gang was during their Supernatural cross-over - anyone see that episode? Dean crushing on Daphne was so on brand for him, ha.
Shout-out to Beetlejuice's color palette, because this green looks amazing with black and white:
(Cakes By Sheena, Minnesota)
Plus this entire design is just... ::chef's kiss:: The circus tent! The bats! The headstone design!
Speaking of headstones, here's my last Tim Burton pick today:
(Arte di Zucchero, Italy)
Frankenweenie! Who remembers this one?
And finally, the spooky movie monster channeling all of our moods right now:
(ShortCakes, UK)
Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors - along with Audreys 3-12, wowza.
Yep, I'mma need someone to feed me cake now, STAT.
I hope these made you smile, and gave you some ideas on what movies to watch this month! In fact, just for kicks, I'm going to include the rest of my movie list at the bottom of this post. (I couldn't find the right cakes for the others.) Let me know what else you'd add!

These shirt designs are all so cute, but the "Come, We Fly" made me LOL:
