Sunday Sweets Celebrates Spider-Man
Every Friday John and I pick a movie to watch and chat about online with friends from Epbot. It's been fun revisiting a bunch of our favorite films: geek classics like Back to the Future mixed in with more current gems like Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, which we watched this weekend.
This movie is SO GOOD, y'all, it finally turned me into a Spider-Man fangirl. So of COURSE I set out to find some sweet cakes to celebrate.
First, let's give it up for our boy Miles Morales:
(Cakelyn's Finest, New York)
Miles' suit redesign is cool, yes, but mostly I just like HIM. Such a fantastic, relatable character. Plus I like the rest of the Spidey gang, and how they wove in Peter Parker's original story.
(Anarchy Cake Studio, Arkansas)
It makes me absurdly happy that Spider-Ham is also included here, ha.
Of course we've got to show some love for the classic Spider-Man, too:
(Baker unknown, help?)
Love this texture and the color palette.
Although I'm always a sucker for bright, cartoony colors:
(Catherine's Cakery, Ottawa)
The draped webbing is a great touch, love how he's hanging from the number!
Check out the airbrush skills on this one:
(Cookie Art By Elly, Louisiana)
This whole design is fantastic. I like all the characters around the bottom tier.
I made the happiest little squeak when I found this:
(Incr_Edible Cupcakes, California)
A whole cake themed to Spider-Gwen! Yes!! Someone give this 5-year-old a high-five.
Speaking of kids, this would be a perfect baby shower cake:
(Chtefy's Cakes & Co, Switzerland)
So cute! That web topper is fantastic; the little comic book "Pow"is my favorite part.
There's something about hand-painted art on cakes, I can't get enough of it. I mean, LOOK:
(Lesya Tort, Russia)
Wow. Just... wow.
If there's one thing I've learned after looking through over a thousand Spider-Man cakes this week, it's that making a 3D sugarpaste Spidey is insanely hard, and you should really just stick with 2D illustrations.
That is, unless you're the baker at Viviana Cake:
(Viviana Cake, Italy)
This is, hands down, THE best edible Spider-Man figure I've seen. And he's even hanging upside down! The rest of the cake is phenomenal, too. Bravo.
And finally, one more hand-painted beauty:
(Lesya Tort, Russia)
Love how Spidey's red pops against the black and white city background. Dang, that's pretty.
I hope these gave you a smile. Happy Sunday!

P.S. For my fellow Spider-verse fans: I thought this shirt was cool.
